SO you've got or think you will get admission into a college of your choice in the US. Now what? The next question many students struggle with is how to pay for it.

The number of students from India studying at colleges and universities in the United States rose to a total of nearly 105,000 during the 2009/ 10 academic year, according to a report published annually by the Institute of International Education (IIE) with support from the U. S. Government.

But, the report goes on to say, 62 per cent of international students in the US funded themselves with only 38 per cent finding funds from other sources. In other words, competition for financial aid is intense. Aid comes in three main formats - full or partial scholarships, teaching or research assistantships where you work a set number of hours a week in exchange for tuition waivers and a stipend, or loans, which often require a guarantor, usually in the US. And who gets the coveted aid? It seems that winning financial aid has become somewhat of an entrepreneurial endeavor. While merit still rules, careful planning, calculated risk taking, positioning and resourcefulness have become critical.

Let's begin with where the money comes from. The top sources for aid were US colleges and universities (24 per cent), current employer (5.2 per cent) and home government or university (4.6 per cent).

Pure Science and Engineering subjects have higher demand, than say, something like education. So getting an assistantship is easier. Your schools ranking is important - most of the top schools are well funded. Where the school is located will also make a difference. The same money, which pays your tuition and part of your rent in New York, will buy you tuition, rent, groceries and leave you with leftovers in Ann Arbor. It pays, then, to carefully research the schools on your list and position yourself accordingly - what kind of funding they have offered in the past, their ranks for your field of study, their location, how many international students they take in every year, whether the school is private or public, their size of undergraduate population and their areas of research (an indication of research assistantships).

For PHDs, most universities are dying to get good students so they compete to give aid. A full scholarship sounds wonderful but is not always the option. Many students take the approach of a patchwork of different kinds of aid instead of one big grant.

In any business, there is a rigid competition by various investors. This is the reason why some businesses don't last long. Strategic planning is very crucial as there are a lot of trials to be encountered during business operation.

When planning to engage in the world of commerce, you must be knowledgeable on the demands of society. For example, primary education is very important for each child. So, consider starting a preschool if you think you possess all requirements. You just need to invest and wisely budget your revenue for future expenses. In addition, you are able to share your acquired knowledge to children. You will become a part of their growth as you are the first one to teach them basic lectures.

Now that the advantages have been enumerated, the next question is - how to start a preschool business?

  1. To begin, you need a space that is suitable for learning. It is not necessary to have a big area as long as you provide essential rooms. These are the waiting room, library, canteen, and areas where students can perform their school tasks. You need to be meticulous in decorating your place in accordance to the arranged goal - and this is for learning purposes.
  2. Provide waiting room toys in a place where children will obviously wait for their schedule. This will alleviate their boredom while allowing them to learn. Bear in mind that toddlers have a mind that is comparable to sponge. They can easily grasp or absorb new information. Placing different educational toys is essential.
  3. Moreover, as an owner, it is now your responsibility to ensure the safety of every child. Security is really difficult to achieve. Why? It is due to a toddler's nature of being an explorer. Children in this stage have a psychosocial status of "autonomy vs. shame and doubt". They tend to be independent by roaming around, being curious and so forth. These are the reasons why they are prone to accidents. To prevent unwanted situations, safety precautions must be implemented. Gates should be closed at all times and they should never be left unattended. If possible, use low plastic chairs and tables so they won't get injuries or wounds. Place classroom rugs to prevent from slipping. It is also a good idea to have colorful decorations.
  4. Provide proper furnishings. Walls must be painted with lovely colors. Other learning equipment should be displayed. If possible, provide teddy bears or stuffed toys for them.

It occurred to me recently that reform is impossible with the people we have elected; obviously our government works for the 1%. One of the best candidates we have for president is Buddy Roemer, but the system is so corrupt that they don't allow him in the debates with one pretext or another; besides, the elections could be rigged.

Therefore, I propose organizing a massive walk to Washington to ask for Obama's resignation. We elected him to work for us and instead he is working for the corporate oligarchy; it is our constitutional right to replace him at any time. They did it in Egypt. We can do it here!

We choose a date and depart from New York, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego to meet in Washington DC at another set date (we can use vehicles part of the way if necessary). By the time we get there, enlisting occupiers along the way, we should number on the thousands. And we occupy until we install a new president and replace the Federal Reserve System (a banking cartel that stole our government in 1913 - it is unconstitutional) Please check: The Creature from Jekyll Island: A Second look at the Federal Reserve, by G Edward Griffin.

It is paramount to do this because there is overwhelming e v i d e n c e that 9/11 was an inside job ( AE 9/11 Truth ) which means that our political system is so corrupt that it would be impossible to start our new country without cleaning house and bringing the guilty to justice, and no system can exist long without justice... justice for all!

Besides, without a clean-up, an honest president would be thrown into a nest of vipers and his chances to survive would be slim. If you have any doubt that JFK was assassinated by the 1%, I suggest reading: JFK and the Unspeakable: Why he Died and why it matters. By James Douglass.

Native Americans should be invited to participate in this march as they have been immorally ignored and marginalized for too long. It is time for them to claim their right place in our society. We can learn much from their culture.

And we must keep in mind that the reason the 1% is in power is the apathy and lack of caring of the 99%. When we loose our virtue we are easy prey for vipers. It is a must to realize that everything is interconnected and we are all part of a Whole, and when we help others we help ourselves. What would the world be like if when we get up in the morning our first thought would be to help others... do unto others what is best for them?

Custom College Essay Writing services are extensively available over the Internet now days. Every time you browse through the Web, you will come across a new web portal that is selling and promoting essays to unwary college students all around the globe. As a matter of fact, all of these companies are disreputable, illegitimate and doing their consumers a major disservice and hurting them in the long run.

Wondering why buying an essay online is a bad idea? Continue reading for the answer to your question.

First and foremost, you need to determine where these online, Custom College Essay writing services acquire their essays from. Even though, most such companies will try to convince you that they are simply generating these essays through a professional and competent team of writers. On the contrary, most of these custom college essay writing services outsource their writing jobs to various countries such as India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, among many others. Just think about it, someone who has no technical or in depth knowledge of your subject, living in India or Bangladesh, is being paid a few dollars per hour to write your paper.

Now you're probably wondering what's so bad about opting for an essay that was created in a foreign country? In addition to the apparent waste of an opportunity to rise academically, as well as the obvious waste of your college training, a paper written by someone else living in another part of the world simply cannot reflect the your skills and knowledge of the subject matter, nor can it live up to your teacher's expectations. There are quite a few, good writers out there, but most of these companies don't hire them because they usually charge a lot more for academic papers.

In fact, most of the custom college essay writing services will provide you with a paper that is recycled from a previously composed piece done for some other customer. In the same manner, some of the essays are even reproduced over the Internet and it becomes a lot easier for an instructor to find out that it was copied and is plagiarized.

College instructors have enough experience to identify plagiarized essays from their students and can also deduce whether it was done by them, or whether they had someone else do it for them. It is not that hard to do for them, because they know how you speak and write through the other stuff you've submitted and sometimes it is exceedingly evident. As a student, you should think about this at least thrice before you consider making such a tremendous mistake. The next time you are thinking about skipping one of your assignments and looking for an essay that is on sale over the Internet, think long and hard about how you are wasting your college fee. Not only are you wasting your money, you are also showing that your academic education was a complete waste of time as well, not to mention what would happen if you got caught.

Many high schools host college and career fairs where seniors, juniors, and their parents wander from station to station looking for information that will help them make decisions. But while they are looking for specific academic requirements, and scholarship and financial aid information, those parents hopefully have long been preparing their teenagers for success in college. In fact, college success depends on much more than academic success. The skills that teenagers need to successfully maneuver new freedoms, new responsibilities, and new situations that they will face in college need to be honed at home long before mom and dad wave goodbye from a dorm parking lot.

Whether you have a high school senior, a freshman, or even a middle schooler, parents who expect their child to go on to higher education need to prepare those students to be successful in college while they are still living at home. If parents really want their students to successfully maneuver all the temptations of parties, late nights, and skipping classes while culling a college education, a degree, and the beginning of a promising career, they need to start preparing their teenagers long before the end of high school.

Academics, of course, are crucial. Being able to properly research a topic, use correct citation, and organize a well-written paper takes academic skills; but parents need to realize that if a student can't get herself up-or even get motivated to try- in time to make it to a class where she is one of 300, to listen to a lecture on a subject she doesn't like but is required to take, where roll is not taken and nobody checks to see why she isn't there-that takes more than academic skills. It takes some training, some dedication, and a student who sincerely wants and understands the value and cost of that college education to be successful.

Likewise, if the student cannot handle conflict, cannot manage her time and priorities, cannot self-advocate, cannot manage his money, does not know when she needs help or how to get it, then despite a stellar grade point average, that teenager will be leaving home with a deficit in what it takes to be successful in college.

Parents need to realize that developing the skills for a successful college experience needs to begin long before they pick up information at a college fair. Most of the skills are covered in basic parenting, but many parents need a refresher and new course of action once their kids hit the teen years when teenage logic, impulses, and choices leave parents screaming for help.

Teenagers need graduated responsibilities with real consequences. Many will stumble, but when they do make progress, they should be rewarded with more responsibility. For example: extend curfew hours, allow more driving privileges, let them take on a part-time job, even let older teens attend events without adult supervision. Praise them when they show responsible behavior and be ready to go back a step when they don't.

Insist on, but let your teenager make his own appointments to talk with a teacher over that missed assignment. Let her make the orthodontist appointment. Guide him to figure out his time and calendar and commitments-you will not be there to do it for him in college.

College is a time of much change, more freedom, and new and challenging situations. Students who come already capable of figuring out how to solve a conflict with a roommate, how to safely handle themselves at a party, how to determine just how much time they need to study for that mid-term, are the students more likely to succeed in their academics. Look for the opportunities to give your middle and high school students a chance to mature, to be responsible, to learn from failures and consequences, and to accept challenges. By doing so, you are guiding them toward college success.

Learning how to become a cop is very difficult because police work is a way of life rather than a job. This is not the kind of job that you can get after getting your high school diploma. For anyone to be considered, he or she must have attained an associate's degree in criminal justice or a minimum or 40 to 60 credits. Those who have criminal convictions will never become cops. Every applicant must also pass a psychological exam that is issued by the police department.

If you decide that you want to become a police officer, you should start asking your local police officers about the entry requirements and what the job entails. You can also organize a date so that you can ride a long with them and get first hand experience of the job. You can ask them questions regarding the minimum requirements, application process scheduling of exams and tips on how to pass the exam. An interesting point to note is that when the city is recruiting, it normally accepts online applications apart from normal submissions.

Applications that are accepted are usually put on a waiting list. If you are better qualified for the job than other applicants, your name will appear on top of the list.

Prepare Yourself Physically and Mentally

The job description of a police officer is vast and the requirements for becoming one are many. The written exam is also very difficult and most applicants usually quit before they finish the test. However, you will have an easy time taking the exam if you prepare yourself properly. Once you have decided to apply for the job, you should visit your local police station and ask for study material. It is important to note that there will also be a physical exam. For you to pass this exam, you must exercise on a regular basis. The following are some physical requirements expected from every applicant:

  • Run 2 to 3 miles covering each mile in less than 8 minutes.
  • Do bench presses using weights equal to your body weight.
  • Do 30 sit-ups and 20 pushups in less than one minute.
  • Climb an 8-10 foot wall.

Furthermore, superiors believe that if police offices are going to carry stun and mace guns, they should understand how it feels to be shot by a stun gun or being maced. Police officers are also taught hand to hand combat to prepare them for eventualities on the street. This type of training can be life saving when on the field.

Police Officer Salary

After completion of training and passing of the written exam, you will graduate and be assigned to a precinct. Precincts that have higher crime rates usually pay officers higher salaries because of the risks involved in the job. On average, a police officer makes $50,000 annually with 2 to 5 weeks of paid vacation, holiday bonuses, bilingual bonuses, retirement packages and excellent health benefits.

The health care field is one of the fastest growing in the world, and it's not hard to see why. Most Western countries, particularly the U.S., have an aging population. This trend will continue for at least the next three or four decades. With so many jobs in the health care field, the biggest question is what is the best way to enter it? For many people, the answer is a nursing education.

There are several ways to go about obtaining a nursing education. The three most common are to become either a CNA (certified nursing assistant), LPN (licensed practical nurse), or RN (registered nurse). All three have their advantages and disadvantages, so let's take a closer look at each.

CNA

The CNA position is by far the easiest one in the nursing field to obtain. In fact, in most cases you are not even required to attend a nursing school. All that is usually required is about 3 weeks of training and a certification. Once training is complete and you are certified, you begin with a starting pay of about $10 to $15 an hour.

For many people, the CNA position is a stepping stone to becoming an actual nurse. This can be accomplished in one of two ways; you can either go straight to LPN school right after becoming a CNA, or you can work as a CNA for a while (around a year or so) and apply that experience toward a 'fast track' LPN program.

LPN

The LPN position is a very stable and well-paying position that requires only about two years of nursing education after completion of high school. For a lot of people, the LPN career is very appealing because it strikes a good balance between an important and lucrative career with only a couple years at a nursing school. Those completing an LPN program can expect to start out earning somewhere in the low to mid five figures plus benefits. And, if you're ambitious and want to continue on toward becoming an RN, you can do so by going to school part-time while earning a nice living working as an LPN.

RN

The RN is the pinnacle of the nursing world. The next step up from here would be medical school. The RN is the supervisor over the LPNs and CNAs, so this is a position with greater responsibility and can sometimes become more stressful. But with that added responsibility is a nice pay increase over an LPN. There are a couple ways to become an RN; obtain a two year associate degree from a nursing school, or a four year bachelor's degree in nursing. As mentioned above, many who are already LPNs choose to further their nursing education by going on to become RNs. The advantage to having LPN experience is it allows you to more easily supervise the LPNs that will work under you, because you will have a better idea of what should be expected of them.

Self awareness is simply the act of being aware of a self in any given situation. Self-awareness can be discussed pertaining to several disciplines, but today I shall discuss self-awareness as a philosophical concept relating to the idea of consciousness. Consciousness as a form of self-awareness has been explored as far back at the Neolithic era. Through archeological exploration, it has been found that tradition Neolithic burial sites display proof of spiritual belief and limited reflection on the self and on human consciousness. Cultures predating the literate age also seem to have embraced some form of spiritualism and a sense of self.

Consciousness has been for many centuries understood as a self-reflective exercise and was so considered by Thomas Aquinas. Aquinas explored the notion of consciousness in Summa Theologica as a "'common sense' which enables one for example to 'tell white from sweet', and adds that the common sense 'is also able to sense sensation itself, as when somebody sees that he is seeing'.

In Hindu texts, the "manas" is used often and this refers to a "mind-organ" which is similar to the external sensory organs except that it is internal and is able to view the external organs and their perceptions. This is a very crude explanation of awareness but serves as proof that as far back as 3rd century BC, human beings were aware of their senses and tried to explain this awareness by instilling some form of viewing or monitoring organ or subject.

Conscious, the word itself, can be broken down into two parts. Cum (together with) and scire (knowing). Both are derived from Latin origin and the meaning is simply to know. Self-Awareness, or here discussed and referred to as consciousness, is the ability for a person (or any creature for that matter) to be able to feel oneself as different from others and to be able to comprehend this different and act on it. Consciousness is the ability to be aware of your physical state and act in accordance to what is required. Simply put, even the simplest animals have a form of consciousness, as this consciousness is necessary for the survival of the organism.

Of course, human beings are in possession of a higher form of consciousness in that we are not just aware of our own bodies within any given environment, but we are also aware of the way we feel, the way we think and we are aware of our thoughts in retrospect. This ability is specific and unique to human beings and our ability to reflect on what has been thought and felt in also unique to human beings.

Consciousness in its simplest form is the awareness of the self and its surroundings. To be aware of the self is to be aware of the self in a world it cannot necessarily control and in which it must act in accordance with what is best for the self. It is thus of the utmost importance that consciousness performs at its optimum in order to ensure actions which are beneficial to the self.

Simply put, consciousness is an awareness of the self as it interacts with an external context. This interaction is usually accompanied by a feeling of what it is like being in a particular state. The feeling, the mapping out of this feeling, the memory thereof, and the utilization of the memory of the feelings, are all mapped out in different levels of consciousness, therefore self-awareness is critical in the act of survival with regards to the physical self as well as the mental and psychological self.
